2016 US Open: Best Place To See Tennis Superstars And Their Cool Cars

One of the biggest sporting events in the United States is the US Open, which is held annually between August and September. This year, the spectacular tennis tournament will be held from August 29 to September 11 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows, New York.

Tennis fans from all over the world are all set to fly to New York to witness world-class athletes compete at the 2016 US Open. The tournament will features five championships: men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. There are also special competitions for juniors, players in a wheelchair, and former tennis champions.

In time for the 2016 US Open, we take a look at some of the stars of the tennis world and the cars they own and love. Seeing them drive their dream cars will surely make you wish that you are a tennis superstar too.

Novak Djokovic

ATP’s World No. 1 and current French and Australian champion, Novak Djokovic so far has earned a net worth of a whooping $100 million, thanks to his 12 Grand slam championships, 66 career titles (and counting), and massive endorsements like Adidas, Eugot, Seiko and more. Only 29, the US defending champ, has a sponsorship deal with Mercedes-Benz and that’s why you will see the Serbian star driving around in beautiful Mercedes sedans all the time.

Serena Williams

WTA’s World No. 1 and current Wimbledon champion with 22 Major titles (currently tied with Steffi Graf) under her belt, Serena Williams, at the age of 34, remains the most dominant female player in tennis today. She is one of the highest-paid athletes scheduled to play at the 2016 Olympics in Rei de Janeiro. A lover of bright colors, Williams likes cruising around in her small, elegant and very expensive car – Bentley Supersports.

Roger Federer

The 34-year old tennis player currently ranks number 3 in the world and continues to rank within the top 10 since 2002. Roger Federer has won several championships including 17 Grand Slam singles titles and 6 ATP World Tour Finals. Just like Boris Becker and Djokovic, the Swiss tennis superstar is into Mercedes-Benz cars. He owns an SLS AMG Roadster and he expressed how he felt about it. Federer beamed, “This is seriously a cool car… This is really one of my favorite all-time cars. I love it.”

Andy Murray 

The Scottish pro tennis player continues to carry the British No. 1 title since 2012. Andy Murray currently ranks number two in the world and has become the first British player to win a Grand Slam singles tournament at the 2012 US Open. The 2016 Wimbledon champion became the 6th man in the history of tennis to win more than $40 million in career prize last year. Murray used to own an Aston Martin and Range Rover, but he prefers driving his first car which is a Volkswagen Polo. Murray told Mirror, “The reason I kept it is because if people come to stay, it’s a good car to pick people up from the station and those sort of things.”

Rafael Nadal 

Tennis court heartthrob Rafael Nadal is considered as one of the greatest tennis players of all time. He earned the nickname “King of Clay” because of his success as a clay court player. He has won 14 Grand Slam singles titles, 27 ATP World Tour Masters 1000, 17 ATP World Tour 500 tournaments, and an Olympic gold medal in singles at the 2008 Summer Olympics. The Spanish tennis superstar gave up his Aston Martin DBS for a Ferrari 458 Italia.

Maria Sharapova 

Russian star Maria Sharapova has made $29.7 million between June 2014 and June 2015, and earns more than $23 million in endorsements. The 29-year-old tennis beauty has endorsed many brands including Porsche, which is her favorite car brand. In 2014, she took home a Porsche targa 4s after she won her 30th WTA title at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. Sharapova is currently banned from playing for two years.

Boris Becker

The German player had a fruitful career in professional tennis back in the 80s. He won six Grand Slam singles championships, earned an Olympic gold medal for doubles championship, and was the youngest player to win at Wimbledon’s men’s singles. He is currently the coach of Novak Djokovic, who is ATP’s World No. 1 and the current US defending champion. When it comes to cars, Boris Becker seems to prefer a Mercedes-Benz as he was seen heading to his Mercedes-Benz ML63. The former tennis superstar was also seen driving a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG with his wife. His car was designed with logos of luxurious brands such as Robert Cavalli and Loewe.
