Paul Walker’s brothers, Vin Diesel, Iggy Azalea adding buzz to “Fast & Furious 7”

Fast & Furious 7 will race into theaters during the first week of April, but the news and media attention devoted to the late Paul Walker’s final film has been non-stop.

Walker, who died in a car crash in Santa Clarita, California, after a charity event in December, was featured here on the VroomVroomVroom car rental blog when we shared our Paul Walker Memories.

Fast & Furious franchise star Vin Diesel told American talk show host Michael Strahan on Friday that losing Walker has been “one of the darker moments in my journey”, adding the following:

“I grew up in the bouncer world, and we lost people while we were bouncing. But the brotherhood in Paul Walker was something completely different. It was someone that we … we grew up in the business together, and we became famous together, and we represented the biggest franchise together. He was my partner, and it’s a strange thing to … I’ve been acting all my life and they don’t teach you in acting, how to mourn someone and simultaneously pretend they’re in a scene with you.”

According to The Huffington Post, Paul’s brothers Cory and Caleb were asked to help finish the film through a combination of “stand-in” shots due to their uncanny resemblance to their brother, and CGI special effects. There were only “small gaps” that required the two, but their presence surely helped the cast & crew to deal with the loss while simultaneously struggling to prepare to promote what’s expected to be another major box office hit.

In other FF7 news this week, Diesel revealed to a French radio station that Australian rapper Iggy Azalea has a cameo role in the movie. Azalea, who was born in Sydney and grew up in Mullumbimby, New South Wales, joins the list of recording artists who appeared in the movie franchise’s previous entries, including Ja Rule, Ludacris, and Bow Wow.
